In almost exactly one year I will be walking down the isle to merry my best friend. On that day it is very important for me to be in my very best physical and mental state not only for him but for myself as well. So for the next year I am taking a pledge to better my self physically and mentally.
I recently had a major wake up call and it helped me to realize that I am not properly fueling my body. In high school I was active and I ate pretty healthy on an athletes diet. When I started college I felt freedom and my diet and exercise regimen dramatically changed. I was not as active and basically lived off of fast food and microwave meals.
Now that I have graduated college, own a home, and work a full time job, it has gotten even worse. I find myself sitting the majority of my day and have absolutely no motivation to work out. I keep telling myself I’ll go tomorrow but then I never do.
With my wedding only a year away I know it is time to make a change. What exactly those changes are I am not sure yet but I do know this. I am going to change what I eat and exercise more. Notice I did not say I am going on a diet. I truly want this to be a life changing experience. What I am going to learn over the next year is going to set the foundation for the rest of my life.
I recently stumbled on the blog 100 Days of Real Food and was immediately intrigued. I starting looking around and exploring the site and I knew it was exactly what I needed. I have been looking for a diet for my fiancé and I to follow but I wanted it to be something we could continue for a long time. With all of these fad diets going on now I was having trouble finding what I was looking for. This website met all my requirements.
She talks about whole foods and thats is what I love. I love cooking knowing that what I am putting into my body is going to give me exactly what I need. The food without all the extra chemicals and fillers that a lot of food now contain.
I am going to document my journey on my blog and I encourage you to follow along. I do not know exactly what I will be doing as far as food and exercise or my posting schedule but as I continue this journey I will let you know.
